Richard Wood is a research-led documentary photographer specialising in the intersection of neurodiversity, disability, and historical social issues.
The major research project, A Dark Road Without Horizon, interrogates, via autoethnography, the Aktion T4 atrocities in National Socialist Germany. This work received the Photomonitor Commendation Award (2024), was acquired by the UAL Special Historical Collection, and is the subject of an upcoming solo exhibition at Holocaust Centre North (2026).
With a deep commitment to uncovering hidden histories, my practice aims to present these narratives to contemporary audiences as a stark reminder of past atrocities and the importance of social care and inclusivity. Extensive research acts as a post-factum witness to the attitudes and crimes committed, encouraging reflection on current social attitudes toward disability.
